Hyaluronic acid is a very popular moisturizing ingredient, but some people are confused by the word Acid and are afraid that their skin might react to it. Hyaluronic acid is not actually an acid, it’s a polysaccharide that is naturally produced in our body and can be found in our skin, connective tissues and eyes. We love it because it’s gentle, rarely causes irritations or allergic reactions, never burns the skin like resurfacing acids and promotes healthier, more supple skin. Unfortunately with age the amount of HA decreases which leads to dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. ..... Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 times of it’s weight in water which makes it a super powerful hydrating ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is also a humectant which means it can draw water from the surroundings into the skin and prevent moisture loss. ..... Although it’s suitable for all skin types, be careful if you live in a very dry climate. Hyaluronic Acid might start pulling moisture out of your skin, and you might start feeling like your skin is getting even drier, instead of getting hydrated.
